Vernon L. Grubbs, Jr. (SSG, U.S. Army, Ret.)

SSG Vernon L. Grubbs, Jr. (U.S. Army, Ret.), 75, passed away on Saturday, January 29, 2022 at Memorial Health University Medical Center.

Vernon was born on May 24, 1946 in Baltimore City, MD and for the past thirty years lived in Hinesville. He retired from the U.S. Army as a Staff Sergeant and was a member of the VFW. While serving his country he did one tour of duty in Vietnam, two tours in Germany, and one tour in Korea.

He was preceded in death by two sons, Tommy Grubbs and Danny Grubbs.

Vernon is survived by his wife of fifty-two years, Nora L. Grubbs; daughter, Samantha May Grubbs Jenkins; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Memorial services will begin at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 8, 2022 at Carter Funeral Home Oglethorpe Chapel with Pastor Eugene M. Mason, Jr. officiating. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service. Burial with Full Military Honors will immediately follow in Oglethorpe Memorial Park Cemetery.
