Tony Dwayne Bergen, a devoted soldier, loving family man, and passionate protector of the great outdoors, passed away peacefully at his home in Allenhurst, Georgia, on May 24, 2025, at the age of 55. Born on August 12, 1969, Tony led a life marked by unwavering dedication to both his country and his family.

Tony’s military career began in 1988 when he joined the Army, continuing with his service in the Department of Defense on active duty, followed by a fulfilling tenure in the National Guard. His commitment to serving his nation was complemented by his pursuit of education, which included high school as well as various military education and leadership schools. This blend of practical experience and formal training solidified Tony’s role as a respected leader among his peers in the military community.

Throughout his life, Tony was known for his deep passion for helping others. Whether in his professional capacity or in everyday interactions, he approached life with a generous spirit and an unwavering desire to uplift those around him. His hobbies reflected his love for nature and animals; as an avid outdoorsman, he found joy in landscaping and cherished the companionship of his beloved German Shepherds as well as a variety of other animals.

Tony is survived by a loving family who will carry his memory forward. He was the beloved husband of Janet Bergen, with whom he shared 30 wonderful years of marriage. Together, they nurtured a nurturing environment for their son, Darren Bergen, and his wife, Gabriela Bergen. Tony took immense pride in his role as a grandfather to Joel and Veronica Bergen, mother, Judy Bergen, of Colorado Springs, Colorado, and his sister, Michele Bergen, also of Colorado Springs, Colorado creating lasting memories filled with laughter and love.

Tony's legacy of kindness, service, and love will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew him. His absence leaves a profound void, yet his spirit will continue to inspire and guide those he loved so dearly.

Vastation will be held at Carter Funeral Home on Friday May 30, 2025 starting at 6 p.m.

Funeral Service will be held on Saturday May 31, 2025 at 11 a.m. at the Chapel of Carte Funeral Home.

Burial will immediately follow the service in Oglethorpe Memorial Park with full military Honors.

Carter Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
