Steve Boatright

May 28, 1966 — October 14, 2021

Steve Allen Boatright, 55, passed away on Thursday, October 14, 2021 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Savannah.

Steve was born on May 28, 1966 and was a lifelong resident of Liberty County. He was employed with Chatham Area Transit as the Director of Maintenance. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed spending time in the mountains, fishing, hunting (especially hog hunting), mud-bogging, and exploring with his dogs. He also spent his time building racing trucks and mud- bogging trucks.

More than anything though, he loved being with his family. He enjoyed weekends watching UGA football and could often be heard threatening to lock his wife outside if she yelled at the TV one more time during the games. Steve was a devoted, loving husband, father, grandfather, and son. He had many friends, numerous unofficial adopted children, and will be deeply missed.

Steve was preceded in death by his mother, Helen Wilcher; sister-in-law, Barbie Patti Shephard Smith; and grandparents, John Boatright, and Eudel “Ma” Meeks.

He is survived by his wife of thirty-five years, Debbie Boatright; three children, Ashley Smiley (Jay) of Ludowici, Steve “Bubba” Boatright (Alyssa) of Fleming, and Candice Boatright (Dusty) of Midway; nine grandchildren, Wyatt, Elizabeth, Hunter, Bubba, Jr., Parker, Lanie, Johnny, Rhett, and Brantley; father, Connie Boatright; two sisters, Sherri Kelly of Savannah and Melissa Ellis (Ty) of St. Augustine, FL; two sisters-in-law, Angie Rogers (James) of Ludowici and Kim Jenkins (Russell) of Townsend; six nieces; six nephews; five great-nieces; and three great-nephews.

Funeral services will begin at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, October 18, 2021 at Flemington Presbyterian Church with Reverend Greg Loskoski officiating. Steve’s family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Venmo @foreverus1986.
