Sonya Carroll

It is with heavy hearts that announce the passing of Sonya Carroll, a beloved mother, daughter, sister, and friend. Sonya was born on September 24, 1958, and departed this world on June 24, 2025, in Hinesville, Georgia. She lived her life surrounded by love, laughter, and her cherished family.

Sonya completed her education at the high school level, yet her greatest lessons were learned through her life experiences and her deep connections with those she held dear.

Known for her vibrant spirit, Sonya had a passion for discovering new fast food spots, relishing the flavors and experiences they offered. Her evenings often included indulging in Korean soaps, captivating stories that brought joy to her heart. In her quieter moments, she enjoyed engaging in phone games that stimulated her mind and provided a glimpse into her competitive side. Above all else, her greatest treasure was the time she spent with her family, which filled her life with an immeasurable sense of fulfillment.

Sonya leaves behind her loving daughter, Jessica Jones, and her husband, David, both residing in Hinesville. She is also survived by her son, Travis Carroll, and his wife, Kellie, from Reidsville. Her legacy continues through her three grandchildren, Jacob Carroll, Brandon Bonefede, and James Overholster, who undoubtedly will carry forward the values and love she instilled in them. Sonya was also a cherished daughter, leaving behind her parents, Bert and Irene Young, as well as a dear brother, Larry Woody of Midway, and another brother, Richard Woody (Ranee) of Keller, Texas.

Sonya was predeceased by her brother, Michael Young.
