Rita Alread Detournillon, 79, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 2, 2024 at St. Joseph's Hospital in Savannah, GA. She was born on November 25, 1944. Rita will be remembered for her kind heart, compassionate spirit, and unwavering love for her family.
In her early years, Rita graduated from high school and embarked on a life filled with love, laughter, and cherished moments. She touched the lives of many with her warmth and generosity.
Rita is survived by her four children, Deborah Clark of Ludowici, GA, Caroline Walrath (David) of Moultrie, GA, Jeanie Ray of Tifton, GA, and Cecil Ahliel (Terry) of Waynesboro, GA; ten grandchildren, Jessica Ahliel, Cecil Ahliel (Dallas) all of Waynesboro, GA, Elizabeth Barnett of Phenix City, AL, Michael Barnett (Samantha) of Ludowici, GA, Matthew Wimore of TX, Kyle Wood (Julia) of Bristol, IN, William Wood of Granger, IN, Joshua Walrath (Shelly) and Joey Walrath (Marianela) all of Brunswick, GA, and Kendall Ray of Tifton, GA; and one brother, Grady W. Alread, Jr. of Augusta, GA.
She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Grady W. Alread and Mildred R. Alread; her daughter, Glenda Wood; and her sister, Barbara Kay Koffel.
A prayer service will be held from 7:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 7, 2024 at Carter Funeral Home. Graveside services will begin at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, March 8, 2024 in Oglethorpe Memorial Park Cemetery.
