Retired Major John Phillip Porter, born on December 22, 1940, in Everret, Washington, passed away on April 29, 2025, at Memorial Health University. His departure leaves a profound void in the hearts of those who had the privilege to know him.
A dedicated and courageous soldier, Major Porter served honorably in the U.S. Army, where he earned distinguished accolades, including the Purple Heart, Bronze Star, and Silver Star. His commitment to service was a testament to his character, reflecting a life dedicated to the principles of duty, honor, and country.
After earning his Bachelor’s degree in Business from Jacksonville Alabama. His love for service never waned. Sports and the arts enriched his life; he was an avid golfer and enjoyed photography and dancing, often sharing these passions with the community at the Cherokee Golf Club.
He is survived by his loving partner, Hee Soon Porter, along with several nieces and nephews, who will cherish his memory and the impact he had on each of their lives.
Family will receive friends on Friday May 2, 2025 starting at 5 p.m. at Carter Funeral Home.
Burial will be at Arlington National Cemetery in Virginia.
