Ralph “RC” Curtis Newton, 91, of Albemarle, NC, passed away on June 21, 2021 in Savannah, GA.

RC was born in Albemarle, NC to Stanley Albertus and Lula Newton on March 18, 1930. He was a veteran of WWII and served in the U.S. Army.  He worked as an ironworker for many years, then he went on to work as a cook for George Jones, and he also worked as a shrimper for several years. 

He is preceded in death by his son, Michael Newton; seven brothers; and four sisters. 

RC is survived by three children, Margaret Pennington of Charlotte, NC, Myra Timmons of Fleming, GA, and Younger Newton of Savannah, GA. He was blessed with eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will begin at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 24, 2021 at Carter Funeral Home Bryan Chapel with Chaplain Ryan Wilson of GHC Hospice officiating. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service. Burial will immediately follow in Daniel Baptist Church Cemetery.

RC’s pallbearers will be Benny Chapman, Johnny Woods, Wayne Crews, Michael Barbour, Mark Anderson, and Lynn Kern.
