Michael Bussiere (SFC, U.S. Army, Ret.)

SFC Michael Bussiere, (U.S. Army, Retired), 71 passed away at Memorial Health Hospital, in Savannah, GA on March 2, 2022.

He was born in Massachusetts, in June 1950. He was a resident of Liberty County for over thirty years. He served his country for over twenty-two years, retiring from the US Army. He was a decorated War Veteran serving two tours in Vietnam as well as Operation Desert Shield and Desert Storm.

He received the Army Service Ribbon, National Defense Service Medal with Bronze Service Stars, Army Achievement Medal, Army Commendation Medal (2nd Oak Leaf Cluster), Overseas Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Bar, NCO Professional Development. He also received the Vietnam Service Medal with 3 Bronze Service Stars, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal with 60 Device, Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross Unit Citation Badge with Palm, Army Good Conduct Medal (his 6th award), Southwest Asia Service Medal, Kuwait Liberation Medal, Humanitarian Service Medal, Expert Badge (Rifle) and Meritorious Service Medal.

He was preceded in death by his parents; older brothers; and infant grandson.

He is survived by his brother, Thomas; sisters, Mary Jane, Cynthia, and Melissa. He leaves behind his beloved wife of over forty years, Yobo; two daughters, Mellissa and BJ; his only son, Scott; nine grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Michael enjoyed many things in life. He had a passion for working on cars, motorcycles and loved wood working. He loved anything that was related to history and loved Western movies. He loved spending time with his grandkids.

A private memorial service was held on March 11, 2022.
