Michael Dennis Burnsed, Sr.

April 11, 1957 — December 3, 2022

Michael Dennis Burnsed, Sr., 65, of Pooler, GA passed away December 3, 2022 after a long illness.

Dennis was born April 11, 1957 in Savannah, GA. He grew up in Savannah and attended Savannah High School.  In 1983, Dennis married his wife, Velinda. He lovingly called her Sunshine and she called him her hero, Superman. God richly blessed their marriage. He, also, loved his children and grandchildren more than life itself. Dennis always had a mischievous way and shared laughter wherever he went. With his larger-than-life personality, he had a remarkable ability to connect with people, share himself, and spread that same spirit of love in each person he knew.

He enjoyed boating, crabbing, fishing, hunting, the Atlanta Braves and Georgia Bulldogs. He was employed 40+ years for Kroger where he started as a teenager and worked until he became disabled in 2015. He loved serving in his church, Bethel Baptist and the community.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 39 years, Velinda Barratta Burnsed; children, Elizabeth (Beth) Thomas of Pooler, GA and Michael D. Burnsed, Jr. (Jessica) of Rincon, GA; sisters, Deborah Enfinger (Lamar) and Donna Grady of Savannah, GA; grandsons, Alex Storey and Mason Burnsed both of Rincon, GA; and granddaughters, Kami Holland, Chyann Owens and Miranda Burnsed all of Rincon, GA and Madison Owens of Pembroke, GA.  He was preceded in death by his mother, Helen Eden Ford; father, Arthur Burnsed; stepfather, Elmer Ford; and step-brother, Gordon Ford.

A funeral service will begin at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 7, 2022 at Bethel Baptist Church in Richmond Hill, GA with Pastor Brian Cooper officiating. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery in Richmond Hill, GA.

Pallbearers will be Rodger Walker, Ethan Walker, Zack Walker, Slade Walker, Will Bowden, Mitch Lee, Bobby Williams and Tommy Foster.

Honorary Pallbearers are the employees of Kroger.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Bethel Baptist Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 245, Richmond Hill, GA 31324.
