Lois Roberson Gaskins

Mrs. Lois Roberson Gaskins, (Grandma, Gigi), 89, of Garden City, GA passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday, September 6, 2022.  

Lois was born on March 28,1933 in Jesup, GA. She spent her youth at the Georgia Baptist Children’s Home in Baxley, GA where she met and married the love of her life Ollie. To know Lois was to love her. She was kind, loving, caring, giving, and had a wonderful sense of humor. She had a smile and joyful spirit that would brighten everyone's day.

She blessed many with her talents. Lois will be remembered by many Savannah brides for helping them have a beautiful wedding as the owner of Lois's Brides and Flowers. After retiring, Lois enjoyed sewing and making beautiful porcelain dolls with the most elegant outfits that she created herself. Lois's neighbors and friends will remember her for her kindness and her yard full of flowers, which she shared with everyone that asked. Lois treasured her family and enjoyed spending time with each of them. As dementia gradually robbed her of physical and mental capacities, she never lost her sweet spirit.  

Lois was preceded in death by her parents, the late Joe and Susie Rowe Roberson of Brunswick, GA; her loving husband, Ollie L. Gaskins; her son, Allen R. Gaskins; brothers, Leo Roberson, Leonard Roberson, Nelson Roberson and Earl Roberson; and sisters, Joe Mae Gable, Mary Bayer, Rosa lee Weist, and Floye Bennett.

Lois is survived by her two daughters, Cherry and her husband Allen Devereaux of Clyo, GA and Cricket Carter of Garden City, GA; eight grandchildren, Jessica (Matt) Robinson, Ashley (Mitchell) Clark, Christy Carter, Cristle (Geoffrey) Chaney, Danielle Into, Joshua Gaskins, D.J. Carter and Shelby (Dustin) Edwards; twelve great-grandchildren; brother, Elmer Roberson of Sherman, TX; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will begin at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, September 12, 2022 at Carter Funeral Home Bryan Chapel with Reverend Lionel Marmolejo officiating.
