LaVonne Jones

Ms. LaVonne M. Jones, 83, passed away on Monday, June 13, 2022 at home.

LaVonne was born in Morris, Minnesota on April 22, 1939.  She resided in Fleming, GA and was a member of Midway United Methodist Church. LaVonne retired from her job with the Civil Service with The Army & Air Force Exchange Service. She enjoyed puzzle books, jigsaw puzzles, hunting, fishing, reading, and most of all spending time with her family.

She was preceded in death by her husband of forty-nine years, Mr. Jack Jones; her parents, Howard and Marie Claassen; and sister, Darlene Koling.  

LaVonne is survived by her children, Dean (Susan) Amelsberg, Rebecca (Walter) Fortner, RaeLa (J.T.) Turner, Howard (Helen) Amelsberg, and Gene (Julie) Amelsberg; brother, Johnny Claassen; sister, Anna Fleisfresser; eighteen grandchildren; thirty-one great-grandchildren; and eight great-great- grandchildren.

Funeral services will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, June 20, 2022 at Midway United Methodist Church with Reverend Hank Perry officiating. LaVonne's family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service. Burial will immediately follow in Midway United Methodist Church Cemetery. Following the burial, a luncheon will be held in the social hall of the church.

Pallbearers will be Ian Bragg, Wesley Bragg, James Amelsberg, Howard Amelsberg Jr., J. Byrom Turner, and Elijah Clark.
