On August 8th, 2025 Larry Johnson, a loving husband and father, passed away at the age of 78 after an extended illness at his home under the care of GHC hospice and his family.
Larry was born in Santana California on August 26, 1946. Larry joined the United States Army from 1968 - 1971 where he achieved the rank of Warrant Officer and was a pilot during the Vietnam War where his call sign was "Robin Hood 13". Larry received the bronze star and a Army Commendation Medal. After the military he went on and became a boilermaker with international paper for 37 years. After retirement he loved sitting on the porch watching the birds with his family, and his dog Beary.
Larry is preceded in death by his first wife Nancy Johnson.
Larry is survived by, 4 sons, Michael Johnson, Joe Johnson, Matthew Johnson, and Daniel Johnson (Charlotte), he Married Betty Smith on June 27, 2011, a Daughter Cindy Wayment and is preceded in death by Ronny Smith (Rachel), 11 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
Family will receive friends on Thursday August 14, 2025 at 12 p.m. at Carter Funeral Home.
Funeral Service will be held at 1 p.m. in the Chapel of Carter Funeral Home.
Burial with Full Military Honors will be rendered at the Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery at 3:00 p.m.
In Lieu of flowers donations can be made to GHC Hospice im Larry's Name.
