Jan Wolfgang Voss

June 5, 1967 — November 7, 2021

On Sunday, November 7, 2021, Jan Wolfgang Voss was granted his wings and entered into eternal peace at the age of 54. A loving husband, father, Opa, uncle, brother and son.

Jan was born in 1967 to his loving and beautiful mother, Brigitte Kruse in Demmin, East Germany. He lived with his mother and grandparents behind the East Berlin Wall growing up and living under Communism until 2 years before the Wall was torn down.

In 1946 his grandfather made an extraordinary decision: He gathered up his young family and moved from democratically governed Hamburg, West Germany to East Germany for work. That was before the wall went up 1961. At that time, you could still travel between both parts of the country.

Jan's memoirs of his life behind the communist Berlin Wall are riveting. He went to Fritz Reuter School in Demmin, East Germany. Studied Car Painting at Edgar Andre Technical College in Zwickau, East Germany. Something Divine occurred and one of his elective courses was the Bible. This is very ironic that a communist country would use the Bible as a history book. Jan Wolfgang Voss was of Christian faith. He graduated Class of 1984.

He led a very fascinating and difficult life when he was an Artillery Officer in the East German Military. Ultimately, he could not agree with this type of government and passionately rebelled against this communist regime which led to serving a brief period of time in Military Prison in 1987. It was nothing less than a miracle that he was released and allowed to go to West Germany. Jan lived a life of sacrifice and was proof that "Freedom isn't Free".

On his path to freedom, he paved his own way. Nothing stopped him from reaching his goals. If it was said, ''You cannot do that" he would overcome any obstacle so that he could. He continued his education studying Organization Consulting, Human Resource Specialist at WBS Hamburg, Germany. He obtained his Master Degree in Business in 2006.

Jan has lived in Demmie, Zwickau, Berlin, Dabel, Lahr, Neuss, Offenburg, Hilchenbach, Hamburg, all in Germany. In 1999 he moved to Dublin, Ireland and worked for Xerox. In 2006 he moved to Hinesville, Ga to help his sister because her husband was serving in the military and deployed overseas. This is how he became acquainted with his future wife.

In 2007 Jan met his soulmate, Glenda Voss. Emotionally he said to her "God sent you as an answer to my prayers". They enjoyed long meaningful conversations, spending time with family, traveling and living life to the fullest.

He was employed as a Senior Call Center Manager - Workforce Management at Continuum Global Solutions. Jan's employment resume included: Branch manager at Enterprise in Hinesville, Jesup and Brunswick, Ga; Director of rental operations of Dan Vaden Rentals DBA Savannah car Rentals, Hinesville and Savannah, Ga; Workforce Management Business Partner at Xerox/ Conduent, US/ Global; Service Operations Manager/ Project Manager/ Group Manager Xerox, Neuss, Germany & Dublin, Ireland.

Jan enjoyed watching his favorite soccer team "Team Germany'', wrestling with his grandchildren and spending time with his family. He looked forward to family Holidays and family gatherings. He loved his wife's cooking, particularly her meatloaf and cheesecake. He loved to travel, especially to the Appalachian Mountains, Jamaica, Grand Canyon, Guatemala, Disney or going anywhere with his grandchildren and family. He loved Technology and was tech savvy. He was always willing to help and loved teaching his grandchildren about technology: educational games, gaming, smart TV.
