Iris Spradley

February 10, 1947 — December 7, 2020

Iris Patricia Floyd Spradley, 73, passed away on Monday, December 7, 2020 at home surrounded by her loving family.

Mrs. Spradley was a lifelong resident of Liberty County and opened Fish World and Pet Shop, which was the first pet store in Hinesville.  She volunteered with the Liberty County Department of Family and Children Services and was a beloved Youth for Christ coordinator for many years at Hinesville Church of God.

She enjoyed arranging flowers, calligraphy, writing poems, and playing the piano and organ. She was an avid reader and loved talking on the phone with family and friends. She was also an aquarium enthusiast who had a special talent for raising all kinds of tropical fish.

Mrs. Spradley was preceded in death by her father, Talmadge Floyd; mother, Mary Lucille Floyd; and sister, Janice Marlene Floyd.

She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Charles; three sisters, Carol Wilson (Tommy) of Gumbranch, Mary Cobb (David) of Franklin, TN, and Rita Floyd of Hinesville. She also leaves behind two sons, Paul Spradley (Melanie) of Ludowici, and John Spradley of Hinesville; two daughters, Patricia Spradley of Hinesville and Leann O’Quinn (Matt) of Hinesville; four grandchildren, Shawn Lowe, Nicholas Spradley, Nathan Spradley, and Charlie Spradley; proud guardian of Dalton Dowd; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will begin at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, December 11, 2020 at Carter Funeral Home Oglethorpe Chapel. A walk-through visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service. Burial will immediately follow in Flemington Presbyterian Church Cemetery.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, seating at the service will be limited, social distancing will be observed, and the wearing of masks is required. The public is invited to watch the service via Livestream at www.facebook.com/cfhbchapel2.
