Fred James Thomas, Jr. passed away on Tuesday, December 29, 2020 in Fayetteville, North Carolina surrounded by his family.
Fred was born on April 25, 1933 in Orlando, Florida. He was drafted into the U.S. Army when he was 18, and retired as SFC after 21 years of service. While at Camp Stewart, Georgia he met the love of his life, Faye Bagley and they had three children. Fred’s favorite hobbies were walking, fishing, watching westerns, Harley’s, and being around his family.
He was preceded in death by his best friend and companion, Faye Bagley Thomas Satchell; and his first-born daughter, Kathy Pippin.
He is survived by his daughter, Cynthia Lee of Fayetteville, North Carolina; son, Fred Thomas, III of Florida; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandsons.
A walk-through visitation will be from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 2, 2021 at Carter Funeral Home Oglethorpe Chapel. Graveside services with Military Honors will begin at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 3, 2021 at Hinesville Cemetery with Reverend Gabe Gill officiating.
Masks are required to enter the funeral home.
