Ellen Dasher Rackley

Ellen Dasher Rackley, 87, passed away on Thursday, September 7, 2023, at home surrounded by her family after a long illness.

Ellen came to Georgia from New York when she was 7 years old and never left. She was a Liberty County native for 80 years. She was a 1956 graduate of Bradwell Institute and enjoyed her class reunions up until her illness took over for the last 2-3 years. She also loved and enjoyed playing with her flowers, sewing, and the love of cooking for her family and friends, loving her animals of all kinds and loved her beautiful property and the pond in Midway.

She was preceded in death by her loving parents, Lupert and Ellen Dasher; and her loving husband of 25 years, Willie “Will” Lee Rackley.

Ellen is survived by her children, John E. Miles II, Lupert E. Miles (Cyndi), Ellen Veronica “Ronnie” Miles, Catherine Michelle “Mikki” Miles, and Dr. Thomas D. Miles Sr. (Rebecca); 16 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; one great- great-grandchild; her beloved puppy dog, BeeBee; and dear friends of the family, Brendett Miles, Ricky Phillips, Brian Sleeth and Cassandra Washington.

The family would like to express our thanks and appreciation for our mother’s care takers Betty Johnson, Jerri McGowan, Chandra Mobley, Jennifer Moore, and Donna Stephens.
