Dennis Eugene Grice, Jr.

Dennis Eugene Grice Jr. (Denny), 56, left this world to join his father in Heaven on March 14, 2023.

He was born on December 23, 1966, in Ft. Jackson, South Carolina, to Martha and Dennis Grice Sr., who preceded him in death in 2018. Denny attended several schools in many parts of the country as a military child. Still, his feet were firmly planted in Hinesville when he graduated high school in 1989 from Bradwell Institute. After graduation, Denny spent the next 30 years at the Developmentally Delayed (DD) Center in Hinesville. Anyone who knew Denny could recall his love for Johnny Cash music, fishing, bowling, and tending to the leaves in the yard.

He spent many hours loving on his cats, Siren, Rusty, and Katie. He avidly participated in the Special Olympics in bowling and softball and loved being a member of the congregation of First Baptist Church of Hinesville. Even though our hearts are heavy with his passing, we can all rest easy and remember what he said countless times every day of his life: “I’ll be fine.”

He is survived by his mother, Martha Grice; one brother, David (Joann) Shifflett of Sykesville, MD; four sisters, Charlene (Dave) Lovelace of Graham, WA, Darlene (Tony) Stokes of Summerville, SC, Trish (Ed) Thornton of Summerville, SC, and Julie (Mike) Savoie of Valdosta, GA; along with several nieces and nephews.

Family and friends of Denny are respectfully invited to attend the viewing at Carter Funeral Home, 308 Oglethorpe Hwy, Hinesville, GA on Tuesday, March 21, 2023 from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, March 22, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. at Carter Funeral Home with Reverend Chuck Owens officiating.
