Cheryl Lynn Hawkins

August 10, 1982 — December 12, 2020

Cheryl Lynn Hawkins, 38, passed away Saturday, December 12, 2020 at Liberty Regional Medical Center.

Born August 10, 1982 at Fort Stewart, Georgia, Cheryl moved back to Hinesville in 2008.  She was a beloved employee of the Hinesville Police Department, before falling ill in 2012.

Cheryl will always be remembered for her bright smile and infectious laughter.  Cheryl was a bright light, a sense of strength and source of inspiration to all those who knew her and of her.  She was a great animal lover and an avid gamer, who enjoyed life and could find the positive in the most difficult of situations.

She was a beautiful person inside and out; most importantly she was a wonderful daughter, best sister and auntie and a great friend.

She was preceded in death by her father Johnnie Hawkins Jr., aunts Georgia and Gladys Witt, Uncles Abdul Hakim (Terry Anderson) and John Witt Jr and grandfather Perkins Anderson Jr.

Surviving are her mother, Patricia M. Hawkins and stepfather, William Wilson; grandmother, Frances Anderson; sister, Frances Hawkins-Islar; brothers, Gary Hawkins and Kenya Hunt; foster brothers, Nelson and Jahil Witt and Todd Hornbuckle; beloved nieces, Maleeya, Nina and Layla Islar; uncles, Thomas Anderson and Mark Witt; aunts, Joan Anderson, Flo Witt, Hakesa Anderson; great-aunts, Hazel Jackson and Deloris Salahuddin; and many more cousins. And please, we cannot forget her beloved companion D-O-G.

Special thank you to all of Cheryl’s caretakers through the years at both Liberty Regional Medical Center in Hinesville, Memorial Health University Medical Center and Candler Hospital in Savannah, and especially South Coastal Wound Care in Hinesville.
