Cecil W. Hammack (U.S. Army, Retired)

December 16, 1931 — February 17, 2023

Cecil “Will” Hammack, 91, died Friday, February 17, 2023 in Greenwood, Indiana after a short illness.

He was a native of Wet Branch, West Virginia. He retired from the U.S. Army in November 1974 with 22 years of service. After which he proceeded to work Civil Service for an additional 20+ years, as a Heavy-Duty Mobile Mechanic/Inspector.

In his downtime he loved to golf, bowl, fish and play cards. Cecil did not know a stranger. He would open his door to anyone. He loved his church and had great love for the gospel. It was only natural growing up in the "Hammack" household to wake up to the gospel music being played on Sunday mornings.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia Perigo Hammack of Booneville, Indiana; three sons Cecil Hammack, Jr. and family of Vidalia, Georgia, Eugene Harris and family of Louisville, Kentucky and Jeffery Perigo and family of Booneville, Indiana; three daughters, Carleen Spears Hodges and family of Statesboro, Georgia, Sabina Rodriguez and family of Hinesville, Georgia and Tara Marrotti and her family of Cincinnati, Ohio; one sister, Betty Adkins; fourteen grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 – 10:45 a.m. on Saturday, February 25, 2023 at Carter Funeral Home. A graveside service with Full Military Honors will follow at 11:00 a.m. in Gum Branch Baptist Church Cemetery.
