Cathy Sayers

Mary Catherine (Cathy) Sayers, 58, passed away on Friday, December 16, 2022 after a short illness.  

Born in Wayne County, she lived most of her life in Hinesville, GA.  She worked at Coastal Utilities and the Liberty County Public Defender’s Office prior to 1995.  Cathy enjoyed spending time outdoors and at the coast, with her greatest past times always spent with family and friends.  She loved to travel on family vacations and was always ready for an adventure.  She was a beloved wife, mother, sister, aunt, and Nana to her grandchildren, who she always made the center of her world. 

Cathy was preceded in death by her father, Wadley Carlos Moody Sr.; mother, Jeanette Sikes; stepfather, Charles Sikes; brother, Wade Moody; and great-niece, Tinley Layne Smith. 

Surviving are her husband, Mark Sayers; children, Jay Sayers (Kim) and Allie Sayers (Tina); grandchildren, Emerson, Trent, Bennet, Palmer, and Bowyn; sisters, Carla Mulford (Chip) and Missy French (De); sister-in-law, Wendy Moody; brothers, Wumpy Sikes (Kathy) and Danny Sikes (Kitty); and many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. 

Visitation will be from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 21, 2022 at Carter Funeral Home Oglethorpe Chapel. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 22, 2022 at Carter Funeral Home Oglethorpe Chapel. Burial will immediately follow in Oglethorpe Memorial Park.
