Carolyn Bennett Darsey

April 19, 1947 — May 16, 2025

Hinesville

Carolyn Bennett Darsey passed away on Friday, May 16th, 2025 at her Hinesville residence, under the care of Hospice and her wonderful caregivers. Carolyn was born April, 19, 1947 in Alma, Georgia, the only daughter of James Walter Bennett and Latrelle Johnson Bennett. She grew up in Hinesville and graduated from Bradwell High School in 1965, where she was a member of the Homecoming Court and Captain of the Cheerleading squad. Carolyn furthered her education at the University of Georgia in Athens, GA, graduating in 1972, and returned home to Hinesville to begin her Federal Career. Carolyn also earned a Master’s of Science in Adult Education Degree from Georgia Southern in 1986. Carolyn retired from Civil Service in 2005, after serving as the Fort Stewart/Hunter Army Airfield Education Services Officer.

Carolyn’s favorite hobby was shopping! The cashiers in Hinesville knew her by name, as she was always looking for the lastest fashion trend or sale. She kept in touch her entire life with many life long friends: Glenda Welborn, Angie Smiley, Linda Chalker, and Ronald Robertson, to name a few. The last few years she enjoyed a special friendship with Bobby Cook.

Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents, and her beloved husband, Jimmy Darsey. She was proud to be the stepmother to both Cody and Barry Darsey. Carolyn is survived by her brother-in-law, Will Darsey (Carol), and her sister-in-law, Brenda Wright, and their families. Carolyn loved her furry children too, the last being Izzy, who brought her much enjoyment.

A special thanks to her long time caregivers: Marion Frances, Chelsey Lewis, Rhonda Bacon, Shamele Horsley, and Jennifer Boatswain and the devoted Hospice care givers.
