Bobby Gene Howell

Bobby Howell, a dedicated postal worker for years at the USPS and later a valued member of the LCSO at the courthouse, passed away peacefully at his home on July 20, 2024 with his wife of nearly 65 years by his side. He was born on April 10, 1938, in Toombs County.

Bobby's commitment to serving his community extended beyond his career as he also devoted time to coaching T-ball and other sports. He found joy in hunting, fishing, and camping with his family. His passion for coaching brought out the best in his players over the years.

In 1957, Bobby graduated from Bradwell Institute, marking the beginning of a life filled with love and purpose. One of his proudest accomplishments was marrying the love of his life, Marian Hendrix, on November 25, 1959. Their union was blessed with two sons, Brent (Lisa) and Brett (Tammy).

His memory will be cherished by Marian, his sons, grandchildren - Katie Jenkins (Tyler), Kyle Howell (Shelby), Kaitlyn Myers (Caleb), Caleb Howell (Sara), Carter Howell - and great-grandchildren - Paisleigh and Penelope Jenkins, Millie and Beckett Myers, and Murray Howell. Bobby is also survived by his brothers Jerry and John Howell, and sister Kay Niblock.

Bobby's unwavering faith as a devoted Christian shone through in every aspect of his life. He loved the Lord, his family, and his country deeply. His service in the Army Reserves exemplified his dedication to his country.

He is preceded in death by his father Alexander Howell, mother Madlene Howell, brother Larry Howell, and sister Linda Nesbitt.

Services to honor and celebrate Bobby's life will be held at Carter Funeral Home in Hinesville. A visitation will take place on July 22 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM followed by a Funeral Service on July 23 at 11:00 AM.

Burial will immediately follow the service at Oglethorpe Memorial Park

Bobby Howell's legacy of love, faith, dedication, and service will continue to inspire all those who had the privilege of knowing him.
