Anne Edwards Coppock Browning

December 4, 1940 — January 7, 2021

Anne Edwards Coppock Browning died on January 7, 2021 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Savannah at the age of 80.  Anne was born on December 4, 1940, to Mark and Norma Edwards in Savannah, Georgia. She attended high school in Claxton, Georgia, where she participated in cheerleading, singing and dancing. She graduated in 1958 as the Salutatorian.  Anne went on to attend Stetson University in Deland, Florida, and Georgia Southern University, where she continued with cheerleading and made many lifelong friends. She graduated from Georgia Southern with a Bachelor of Science in Art Education in 1962.

Anne was blessed with three children who she cherished: Mark, Cristy and Lorin. Anne also had four stepchildren she loved as her own: Carolyn, Kathy, Ed and David.

Anne began her career in the Atlanta area teaching art to elementary students. She obtained a position as a successful sales representative for Best Foods International and became well respected in that role with customers in northeast Florida. One of Anne’s greatest professional accomplishments was her real estate career, where she earned her broker’s license and continued actively until her passing. A strong faith in God was a fundamental part of her life and evident in all she did. She was an active member of First United Methodist Church of Hinesville, Georgia, before moving to Sunbury and joining Midway United Methodist Church, where she helped lead the “Happy Hearts” senior group for years.

Anne was a cherished daughter, mother, wife, sister, “Gammy” (grandmother), aunt, cousin and friend to many. She was a kind, generous and loving person who was always willing to help others. She was a blessing and gift to her family and friends, leaving all who loved her with many wonderful memories of her positive spirit, which will encourage them to move forward and enjoy their blessings in this life. Anne lived life to the fullest, and enjoyed her boat, catching blue crab and shrimp, entertaining family and friends, laughing, dancing, traveling and making friends with everyone she encountered.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Mark and Norma Edwards, her beloved son Mark, and stepson Ed Coppock.

She is survived by her loving husband of 37 years, Guy Browning, daughter Cristy Johnson (Stan), son Lorin Coppock, grandchildren Mitchell Johnson, Andrew Johnson, Parker Johnson, Grady Coppock and Clara Coppock, sister Norma Atkins (Dan), nieces Meredith Dotson (TJ), Elizabeth Moore (Chad), Sarah Ramsay (Rob), stepchildren Carolyn Warrington (Dean), Kathy Pappas (Mike), David Coppock (Karen), her “precious” dog Jiggs and “grand-dogs”, and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and many, many close friends who mourn her passing.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2pm Saturday, January 16, 2021, at the Arch overlooking the Medway River in Sunbury. Officiating the celebration service will be John Crosby. The public is invited to watch the service via Livestream at www.facebook.com/cfhbchapel2.     Anne’s private burial will precede the service and involve family only.
