Tony Sturla, 72, passed away Wednesday, August 24, 2016, at St. Joseph’s Hospital after a sudden illness.

Born in New York City, he was an Interpretive Ranger at Lake Mead National Park for the last 10 years.  He was a veteran of the United States Navy and a Mason.  He was an expert on the Titanic. 

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Jean Sturla; a sister, Anna Arnal; four children, Anthony and Charmayne Sturla, Robert and Trish Sturla, Jeanne and Tony Somers, and Joe and Stella Sturla; grandchildren, Mason, Raquel, Nick, Jean Marie, Sabrina, Brittany, Brandy, Sawyer and Isabella; three great-grandchildren, Taylor, Kahsai, and Kaydence; and numerous extended family members.

The funeral service will begin at 3pm, Sunday, August 28, 2016, at Carter Funeral Home Oglethorpe Chapel.  Visitation will held for two hours prior to the service.  Burial with Military Honors will be in the Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery at 1pm, Tuesday, August 30, 2016.
