He was employed with DECA as the Fort Stewart Commissary Officer until his retirement in 2009.  After his retirement, he volunteered for the Red Cross, giving assistance to those going to and from Winn Army Hospital.  He was a member of the Hinesville Lions Club and was on the Liberty County Board of Equalization and the Board of Directors of GeoVista Credit Union.

Mr. Snelsire was an avid fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers, the Pittsburgh Penguins, and the Pittsburgh Pirates.  He loved Royal Caribbean Cruises, White Russians from Wet Willie’s, and spending time with his friends and family.

Besides his parents, he was also preceded in death by two of his brothers, Ronald Snelsire and George Snelsire, Jr.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Steven Snelsire (Undine) of Berlin, Germany, Beth Dallara (Davis Simpkins) of Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada; Kelly Schroer of Fort Worth, TX, Wendy Kirkby (Keith Smith) of Hinesville, GA, and Craig Necci (Susan) of Dublin, GA; eleven grandchildren, Joshua Hunter of Binghamton, NY, Samantha Herrivan of Medina, NY, Sydney and Savannah Kirkby of Cooperstown, NY, Christian and Matthew Schroer of Fort Worth, TX, Kimi, Gina, and Abby Snelsire of Berlin, Germany, and Madison and Malori Necci of Dublin, GA; one great-grandchild, Levi Herrivan of Medina, NY, and another one on the way; and his brother, Gary Snelsire (Carol) of Pittsburgh, PA.
