CSM Oren Lee Bevins (US ARMY, ret.)

CSM Oren Lee Bevins (United States ARMY, ret.), 77, passed away December 22, 2016, after a long illness.  He was surrounded by family and friends.

Born June 2, 1939, in Marfrance, WV, to Claude and Geneva Bevins, he was a resident of Hinesville for 30 years.  He served 35 years in the United States ARMY and was a Vietnam Veteran.  He earned numerous awards, including the Bronze Star, Distinguished Service Medal, Legion of Merit, and Vietnam Service Medal.  He retired from the ARMY in 1993.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Helen Bevins of Hinesville; 2 daughters, Beverly Rowe (Dale) of Brunswick and Leigh Ann Meerwald (Damian) of Indian Mound, TN; grandson, James Rowe; granddaughter, Elara Ayala; and an aunt, Betty Boone of Crichton, WV.

Visitation will be 11am-12 Noon, Tuesday, December 27, 2016, at Hinesville First United Methodist Church.  The funeral service will follow at Noon with Rev. Dale Thornton officiating.  Burial with Full Military Honors will be in Hinesville Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Dempsey Barsh, Matt Woods, Dale Rowe, W.L. Hall, Gerald DeLoach, and Joe Anderson.  Honorary Pallbearers will be Overman Sunday School Class of Hinesville First United Methodist Church.
