H. Phillip Wilkerson

After spending his younger years in Statesboro, he lived in Ludowici for the past 37 years and was a Lineman with Georgia Power until his retirement after 35 years of service.  He was a member of Live Oak Church of God for many years and was a member of Grace Culture International Church in Pooler until his passing.  

A real man’s man, Phil enjoyed being in the outdoors, was an avid fisherman and loved Georgia Bulldog Football.  Most importantly, though, he was a loving husband, father, and grandfather.  

He is survived by wife of 40 years, Susan Beasley Wilkerson; children, Lisa Wilkerson and Lindsey Wilkerson, both of Ludowici; one grandchild, Michaela Wilkerson; mother, Laverne Grimes of Ludowici; mother-in-law, Lucille Beasley Young of Sylvania; brother- and sister-in-law, Gordon and Sharon Love of Gainesville; brother- and sister-in-law, Jamie and Sue Beasley of North Augusta, SC; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be 6-8 p.m., Tuesday, June 13, 2017, at Carter Funeral Home Oglethorpe Chapel.  Funeral Services will begin at 11:00, Wednesday, June 14, 2017, at Live Oak Church of God. He will lie in state for one-half hour prior the service.   Burial will follow at 2 p.m. in Bulloch Memorial Gardens in Statesboro.
