Theresa Aliprantis Cowell

Theresa Aliprantis Cowell, 69, passed away peacefully at her home on August 5, 2017, after battling a short illness.  She was surrounded by her family and friends.

Born December 28, 1947, in Manhattan, NY, she was a graduate of Pascack Valley High School in New Jersey before making the short move to Bronx, NY, where she received her dental certification.  After moving back to Woodcliff Lake, NJ, she met her husband, Frank Cowell, and they married on November 18, 1967, after his return from the Vietnam War. 

As a devoted military wife, Theresa travelled by her husband’s side for the next 20 years.  They made their permanent residency at their last duty station, Ft. Stewart, Hinesville, GA.  She was a civil service employee at Dentac #4 on Ft. Stewart for 31 years before retiring in 2015 to stay home and care for husband. She was a member of St. Stephen First Martyr Catholic Church.   She loved to shop and be surrounded by her family.  She was a dedicated wife to her husband, a loving mother to her children and grandchildren, and was loved by so many.  

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Lisa Schaadt, and her parents, Antonio and Barbara Aliprantis.

She leaves behind her husband of 49 years, Frank Cowell; daughter, Tracy Griffin (Chris Coll); son, Richard Cowell (April); grandchildren, Brittney Schaadt Bourne (Isaac), Lisa and Jagger Howard, Jacob Griffin, Anthony Garret Cowell, Erica Barnhart, and Hunter, Reagan, and Nicholas Cowell; brother, Anthony Aliprantis; and sister, Lucille Tracey.

Visitation will be 6-8 p.m., Thursday, August 10, 2017, at Carter Funeral Home Oglethorpe Chapel.  Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11 am, Friday, August 11, 2017, at St. Stephen First Martyr Catholic Church, 399 Woodland Drive, Hinesville, GA  31313.  Interment will follow at Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 8819 US HWY 301, Glennville, GA 30427, at 1 p.m.
