Henry Ray Eagan

September 22, 1928 — March 11, 2018

SGM Henry “Ray” Eagan (United States Army, retired), 89, passed away Sunday, March 11, 2018, at Memorial University Medical Center in Savannah after a short illness.  He was surrounded by his family.

A resident of Hinesville for the past 62 years, Sergeant Major Eagan was retired from the United States Army after 20 years of service and was a decorated veteran.  He was a Mason and an outdoorsman.  He enjoyed hunting and fishing.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Lessie Eagan, brother, Clif Eagan, and sister, Annie Pearl Fouts.

Surviving are his wife of 38 years, Guadalupe “Lupe” Eagan; son, Ronnie Eagan; daughter, Donna Eagan Boylan; stepsons, Leo Gonzalez, Roland Gonzalez, and Hector Gonzalez; granddaughters, Countney Boylan, Erin Howell and Kelly Piazza; grandson, Chris Boylan; and four great-grandchildren. 

Graveside services with Full Military Honors will be held Wednesday, March 14, 2018, at 3pm, at the Hinesville Cemetery.  Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at Carter Funeral Home Oglethorpe Chapel. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association (ALZ.org), P.O. Box 96011, Washington, D.C. 20090-6011
