Christa Maria Schafersman

Christa Maria Kroll “Oma” Schafersman, 89, passed away Wednesday, May 9, 2018, at Marshview Senior Living in Savannah, GA. 

Born October 3, 1928, in Gross Wartenburg, Silesian, Germany, she was a resident of Hinesville for 40 years.  She was a member of First Presbyterian Church and sang in the church choir and the Hinesville Mass Community Choir.  Retired from R.J. Reynolds, she was an avid gardener and baker and loved visiting those in need.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Schafersman; daughter, Barbara Ann Shiver; grandson, Nicholas Bertrand; parents, Alfred and Vera Kroll; brother, Klaus Kroll; and son-in-law, Ronny Mobley.

Surviving are her daughter, Vera Hoyer Mobley of Hinesville, and son, Bernd Hoyer of Germany; grandchildren, Christina Mobley Varnedoe (Carl) of Savannah, Travis Mobley (Brittney) of Richmond Hill, Jordan Shiver (Kristen) of Savannah, and Ashley Blitch (Jud) of Stilson; great-grandchildren, Mary Mobley Varnedoe, Stafford Louise Varnedoe, Cooper Mobley, Gunner Mobley, Ally Ann Blitch, and Edward Brantley Blitch; nephews, Georg Kroll (Ulli) and Norbert Kroll (Martina) of Germany; son-in-law, Danny Shiver; and three special friends, Jake Jackson, Johnnie Rollison and Lizzie Muncher.  

Funeral Service will begin at 10:30 am, Friday, May 11, 2018, at Hinesville First Presbyterian Church with Rev. Roland Banks officiating.  Visitation will be for one-half hour prior to the service (10-10:30am) and burial will follow the service in Hinesville Cemetery. 

Pallbearers will be Travis Mobley, Jordan Shiver, Jeff Mobley, Jud Blitch, Carl Varnedoe, and Paul Martin.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests remembrances to Hinesville First Presbyterian Church, 320 Memorial Drive, Hinesville, GA  31313.
