SFC William Michael Tignor

January 25, 1941 — May 15, 2018

SFC William M. Tignor (United States Army, retired), 77, passed away Saturday, May 12, 2018, at Savannah Hospice House surrounded by his family.

A resident of Hinesville for the past 42 years, Sergeant First Class Tignor was retired from the US Army after 22 years of service, including 2 tours in Vietnam.  He served with the Hinesville Police Department first as a reserve police officer then fulltime after his retirement from the Army.  He retired after 25 years with the Department.  He enjoyed fishing and shrimping.

He was preceded in death by his son, Parker Tignor; father, Parker L. Tignor; mother, Kathleen Wilson; and step-daughter, Roseann Denbow.

Surviving are his wife of 30 years, Kathy Tignor; daughter, Claudia Johnson (Charles) of Alabaster, AL; grandchildren, Bill Johnson (Ashley) of Athens, AL, Nikki Johnson of Talladega, AL, Parker Leigh Tignor of Oak Creek, WI, and Stephanie Reilly (Corey) of Oregan, WI; seven great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.   

Visitation will be 6-8 pm, Wednesday, May 16, 2018, at Carter Funeral Home Oglethorpe Chapel.  Graveside service with Full Military Honors will be at 10 am, Thursday, May 17, 2018, at Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Glennville.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests remembrances to Hospice Savannah, P.O. Box 13190, Savannah, GA  31416.
