Carroll W. Floyd

December 31, 1937 — July 12, 2018

Carroll W. Floyd, 80, died on Thursday, July 12, 2018, at Liberty Regional Medical Center under the care of Georgia Hospice Care after a nine-year extended battle with pulmonary fibrosis. 

A native and life-long resident of Hinesville, he was born December 31, 1937, to the late Peyton and Fannie Lou Phillips Floyd.  He was also predeceased by his brothers Jimmy, Jack, Bill, Earl, and Edwin, and his sister, Claire.

Mr. Floyd was a 1956 graduate of Bradwell Institute, served 10 years in the GA National Guard, and retired from the United States Postal Service after 30 years of service.  He was also employed with H&R Block Tax Services for more than 10 years.  He was a member of the Hinesville First United Methodist Church and the Methodist Men’s Fellowship.  He was noted for his wit and sense of humor. 

Survivors are his wife of nearly 50 years, Billie Ilee Groover Floyd; two sons and daughter-in-law, David, Jason and Becky; granddaughter, Lily Ann Floyd; and two sisters-in-law, Carolyn M. Floyd and Cynthia M. Floyd.

Visitation will be 6-8 pm, Monday, July 16, 2018, at Carter Funeral Home Oglethorpe Chapel.  Funeral Services will begin at 11 am, Tuesday, July 17, 2018, at Hinesville First United Methodist Church with the Reverend Doug Force officiating.  Interment will follow in Hinesville Cemetery. 

Honorary Pallbearers will be the Methodist Men’s Fellowship and Bradwell Institute Class of 1956. 

In lieu of flowers, remembrances are suggested to Hinesville First United Methodist Church, 203 North Main Street, Hinesville, GA  31313.
