Lycia Powell Drake

Lycia Powell Drake, 71, passed away at home Friday, July 27, 2018, surrounded by family and friends.

Mrs. Drake was born in Richmond Hill on May 3, 1947, the daughter of Dewey and Inez Powell.  Although she served around the world with her husband, a career Army non-commissioned officer, she lived much of her life in Liberty County.  She was a member of Midway First Baptist Church, the Adult Sunday School Class and Women’s Auxiliary.  She also attended Crossroads Holy Church of God.

She is survived by her husband of 54 years, SGM Luvaughn Drake (US ARMY, Ret.); daughter, Rhonda Fees of Hinesville; son, Shannon L. Drake (Jill) of Marietta; three granddaughters, Kristie Brown (Ronnie) of Hinesville, Katelyn Sanders (William) of Columbus, GA, and Haden Drake of Marietta; one grandson, Davis Drake of Marietta; two great-grandsons, Hunter and Blake Brown of Hinesville; three sisters, Patricia Beasley of Midway, Virginia Diaz of Hinesville, and Diane Lee of Rolla, MO; and a very dedicated and special sister-in-law, Virginia Sims of Monroe, NC.

Visitation will be 6-8 pm, Monday, July 30, 2018, at Carter Funeral Home Oglethorpe Chapel.  Funeral services will begin at 11:30 am, Tuesday, July 31, 2018, at Crossroads Holy Church of God.  Burial will follow in Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Glennville.
