William T. Hickey

SGM (Ret.) William T. Hickey passed away September 6th, 2018, in the privacy of his home in Panama City, FL, at the age of 71.


SGM Hickey was one of five brothers who proudly enlisted in the armed services around the time of the Vietnam Conflict. He succeeded in all challenges placed before him and was rewarded for his hard work with numerous military commendations and ultimately with his promotion as Sergeant Major in the United States Army. SGM Hickey last served our country at Fort Stewart, Georgia as the G-1/AG SGM before retiring. After the passing of his first wife Linda J. Platton-Hickey of Hinesville, GA, he relocated with family to Panama City, Fl.


SGM Hickey is survived by his second wife, Wanda Denise Melvin-Hickey of Panama City; his four children, Thomas M. Hickey of Lexington, SC, William J. Hickey of Twin City, GA, Rebecca A. Martin of Lexington, SC, and April Walbolt-Perry of Panama City, FL; seven grandchildren, Heather Hickey, Emily Hickey, Javen Martin, Jordan Martin, Thomas R. Hickey, Sadie Perry and Lexie Perry; two sisters, Michelle and Virginia of Youngstown, OH, and brothers Stevie, of Youngstown, OH, Thomas John of Columbia, SC, and Chuck in Washington.


A small graveside service for SGM Hickey will be held at Noon, Saturday, September 29, 2018, in Oglethorpe Memorial Park where his remains will be interred alongside Linda.


Full Military Honors will be rendered by the United States Army Honor Guard.
