Catharine "Katy" Dasher

September 11, 1948 — November 18, 2018

Catharine Cahill Dasher, 70, passed away surrounded by her loving family in the early morning hours of November 18, 2018, after a long battle with cancer.  Katy, as she was affectionately known, was born in Nara, Japan, and moved to the United States at the age of four.  She graduated from Butler High School in Augusta, Georgia, in 1966 and was later employed with the Directorate of Human Resources on Fort Stewart until her retirement after twenty-two years of service.

Katy loved to cook and those who were fortunate enough to have her chocolate layer cake or fried shrimp can attest to the fact that she was one of the best around.  In addition to cooking, some of her best memories were made traveling, trying new restaurants, and shopping with her family and friends. She had a special fondness for New York City and attending Broadway plays.

She was a long-time member of the First Baptist Church of Hinesville where she held the position as secretary of the Wisdom Seekers Sunday School Class, served on the hospitality committee, sang in the choir, and involved herself in countless church programs and activities.

Katy was preceded in death by her parents, Donald H. and Hisayo Cahill and her brother, Robert F. Cahill.

She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Palmer Dasher of Hinesville; daughter, Tracey Rogers (Jason) of Fleming; beloved granddaughter, Elizabeth Rogers; sister, Cheryl Kilbury (Bill); brother, Donald H. Cahill, Jr. (Anita); sister-in-law, Michele Cahill; nieces, Dana Dinitto (Vince), Laura Cahill, Lisa Cahill,  Lindsey Green (Mitchel), Kristin Scoggins (Kenny), Emily Stively (Matt), nephew Brian Brown; and a greatnephew, Jake Scoggins.

Funeral services will begin at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, November 21, 2018, at First Baptist Church of Hinesville.  The family will receive friends from 9:30-10.  Interment will immediately follow the service in Hinesville Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the First Baptist Church of Hinesville Building Fund, 220 Memorial Dr., Hinesville, GA 31313; American Cancer Society (www.Cancer.org), PO Box 22478, Oklahoma City, OK 73123; or Hospice Savannah, P.O. Box 13190, Savannah, GA  31416.
