Thomas Bruce Harris

Thomas Bruce Harris, 79, passed away Wednesday, November 28, 2018, at Liberty Regional Medical Center.

Born in Winston-Salem, NC, he was a resident of Hinesville for the past 42 years.   He was retired from the United States Army after more than 22 years of service including 2 tours of service in Germany and one in Korea.  He was a Vietnam Veteran and was serving in Vietnam during the Tet Offensive.  He was awarded a Bronze Star and Purple Heart.  He was also retired from Civil Service at Fort Stewart where he served for several years as the AFGE Union President.  He was a member of the VFW and was a Mason.  An avid sports fan, he loved the Georgia Bulldogs. 

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Ines Harris; children, Randy Harris of Mocksville, NC, Gina White of NC, Bernard Harris of Colorado Springs, Sharon Harris of Hinesville, Dean Harris of Hinesville, Samantha King (CJ) of Virginia, and  Selina Bland (Thomas) of Elgin, SC; ten grandchildren, Tommy, Danny, Colton, Melissa, Brad, Cameron, Brantley, Layah-Grace, Bruce, Ryan, Alexis, and Zachary; five great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be 5-7 p.m., Sunday, December 2, 2018, at Carter Funeral Home Oglethorpe Chapel.  Funeral services will begin at 11:30 am, Monday, December 3, 2018, at Carter Funeral Home Oglethorpe Chapel.  Burial will follow at 1pm in Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery with Full Military Honors.
