Sheila Ray Whisman, 68, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, Tuesday, January 8, 2019, after a short illness.
A lifelong resident of Liberty County, she was a 1968 graduate of Bradwell Institute. She worked at LeRoy’s Store for Men for 20 years and The Heritage Bank for over 20 years. She was a very active member of Elim Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her father, Millen Ray.
She is survived by her mother, Weida W. Ray; two sisters, Faye Yarbrough (Frank) of Hinesville and Lynn Sherer (Ed) of Florida; two brothers, Millen “Cal” Ray, Jr. (Darlene) of Hinesville and James Ray (Bertie) of Liberty County; and several other family members.
Visitation will be 6-8 pm, Thursday, January 10, 2019, at Carter Funeral Home Oglethorpe Chapel. Funeral Services will begin at 11 am, Friday, January 11, 2019, at Elim Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Derrick Ray, Eric Ray, Dathan Ray, Troy Ray, Hunter Ray, and Zack Chenevert.
