Charles Douglas "Doug" Griffin

October 27, 1947 — January 5, 2018

Charles Douglas “Doug” Griffin, 68, was born October 27, 1947, in Statesboro, GA, and was pre-deceased by his parents, Charles and Eunice Griffin.  A 1965 graduate of Groves High School, Doug excelled on the rifle team and track team.  A proud Marine, Doug enlisted with 5th Rifle Company, USMCR, and later with Service Battery, GANG, 214th Field Artillery. He was employed by US Army Corps of Engineers and retired on disability after 29 years of service.  A resident of Bryan Healthcare for the past 7 years, he peacefully entered eternal rest on the icy afternoon of January 5, 2018. Doug enjoyed the outdoors and was an avid hunter, fisherman, and NASCAR fan. He was a member of Bryan Lodge No. 303, F&AM; Past High Priest of Georgia Chapter No. 3, RAM; Past Illustrious Master of Georgia Council No. 2, R&SM; Past Eminent Commander of Palestine Commandery No. 7, KT; member of Herman E. Freeman York Rite College; and 32° member of Ancient & Accepted Scottish Rite, Valley of Savannah. Survivors include his wife, Brenda Griffin; daughters, Sheila Griffin, Connie Lopez (Roberto), and Angela Ryals (John); son, Lee Griffin (Teresa); sisters, Brenda Bills (Al), Sharon Cribbs (Chuck), Carol Murray (Billy), and Barbara Love (Frank); brothers, Clyde Griffin (Judy), Fred Griffin (Karen), Joe Griffin, and Gerald Griffin (Sandra); grandchildren, Heather, Amber and Andy Ryals and Joseph and Garrett Griffin; great-grandchildren, Alex, Payton, Bently, Alliebell and Elias; and several nieces and nephews.  Pallbearers will be Michael Griffin, Ronnie Moody, Danny Moody, Brad Griffin, Ray Griffin and Dana Bates.  Honorary Pallbearers will be members of Bryan Lodge No. 303, F&AM.  Visitation will be 10-11am, Tuesday, January 9, 2018, at Bethel Baptist Church in Richmond Hill with funeral service to follow at 11am with Pastor Brian Cooper officiating and Mr. Timmy Blount as Eulogist.  Interment with Masonic Rites will be in Mt.
