Betty Faye Green

August 24, 1934 — August 20, 2017

Betty Faye Green entered into the presence of Jesus on Sunday, August 20 2017 in the loving embrace of her husband, daughter, and son in law. She was born in Rentz, GA, Laurens County, on August 24, 1934 to Benjamin and Elizabeth Lindsey. Betty graduated from Rentz High School in June 1952, where she joined her husband (James Green) as an Army wife. Betty was first and foremost a homemaker who cherished her husband, adored her children, and doted on her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Above all else, she wished for all her family to be happy and successful and to give thanks to the Lord for all the blessings bestowed upon them. Jim and Betty had two children, Jennifer G Huntley of Brunswick, GA and James Steven Green, of Freeport, IL. They lived an adventurous life with duty stations across the United States and in Germany. Betty was also the “Army Mom” who kept the home fires burning and took care of the family while Jim served combat tours in Korea and Vietnam. Betty was a resident of Hinesville for 50 years and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Hinesville, where she taught Sunday School for a number of years. She loved doing the daily crossword puzzle and playing Scrabble. She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Audrey Clark. Betty is survived after nearly sixty-six years of marriage by her husband, Jim, her daughter Jennifer (Skip) Huntley and son Steven (Annie) Green; grandchildren Kimberly (Chris) Watford, Paul Fulton, Jr., Kimberly (Jason) Arrowood, Brad Huntley, Betsy Hand-Green, Catherine Green, and James S. Green, Jr.; great-grandchildren Andrew, Abigail, and Aiden Watford, Anna, Sophie, Merritt, and Audrey Arrowood. We mourn the loss of our wife and mother, but we are comforted knowing that she’s resting in the arms of her Savior. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m., Wednesday, August 23, 2017, at Carter Funeral Home Oglethorpe Chapel. Funeral services will begin at 1:30 p.m., Thursday, August 24, 2017 at Carter Funeral Home.
