John E. Zoucks, III

April 4, 1954 — November 2, 2016

John Edward Zoucks, III, 62, died Wednesday, November 2, 2016 at Southeast Georgia Health System surrounded by his family. Johnny graduated from Bradwell Institute in 1972 and from the University of Georgia in 1976 with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting.  While he lived in Hinesville, he was very active in the Hinesville First United Methodist Church and served on many committees, was a member of the Hinesville Jaycees, and served as Hinesville City councilman.  He was a member of Darien First Baptist Church and Dorchester Presbyterian Church, a charter member of New Ground Hunting Club, and a founding member of the YMCA of Hinesville and Darien.  He was also on the Board of Directors of Southeastern Bank. After graduation from college in 1976, he joined Coastal Utilities and worked there until 2000.  From there he went to the Darien Telephone Company, where he was the Chief Operations Officer and General Manager. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Pat Parker Zoucks, and his parents, Charles H. and Mary Lee Zoucks. Surviving are his wife, Cheryl Zoucks; children, Jenny Futch (Phil) of Ludowici, Morgan Stokes (Brian) of Hinesville, Patrick Zoucks (Jessica) of Riceboro, Nicole Thomas Dowling (Terry) of Brunswick, and Felicia Thomas Braden (Joey) of Brunswick; sister and brother-in-law, Darlene and Gary Goff of Hinesville, 11 grandchildren; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. Visitation will be 5-8 pm, Saturday, November 5, 2016, at Carter Funeral Home Oglethorpe Chapel.  Funeral services will begin at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, November 6, 2016, at Hinesville First United Methodist Church.  Burial will follow in the Hinesville Cemetery. Remembrances may be made to Darien First Baptist Church, 201 5th St W, Darien, GA 31305, or the Hinesville Cemetery, P.O.
