Calvin Lamar Carter

July 20, 1944 — October 31, 2016

Colonel’s Island Calvin Lamar Carter, age 72, died at his home on Colonel’s Island Monday, October 31, 2016. Lamar attended Bradwell Institute, served two years in the Army as an MP and 10 years with the Savannah Police Department.  He was the owner and operator of Midway Storage and a member of Midway United Methodist Church. He was predeceased by his beloved daughter, Karen Elaine Carter; parents, Margaret and Perue Carter; and three brothers, Carl, Jimmy, and Robert Carter.  He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Linda Bush Carter; his two sons, Donald Lee Carter and Kevin Neal Carter; two grandsons, Kyle Lee Carter and Grayson Lane Carter; and one sister, Donna Bone. Funeral services will begin at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, November 3, 2016, at Midway United Methodist Church with Reverend Hank Perry officiating.  Burial will be in the church cemetery.  A reception for family and friends will be held in the fellowship hall following the services. Pallbearers will be John Rogers, Lyle McGrath, Doug DeLoach, Thomas DeLoach, Jerry DeLoach, and Adam Cochran.  Honorary Pallbearers will be Moe Gill, DeWayne Phillips, Dennis Waters, Steve Sikes, Gill Sikes, Paul Rose, Buddy DeLoach, Albert Lodge, Ricky Hansel, Larry Whitman, Tommy Roundtree, Sanford Carter, Jr., Boyd Moore, Paul Zechman, Billy Prosser, and Joe Cannon.
